O Father who didst give
In Jesus Christ thy Son
A Saviour for each child of earth—
We bring our little one.
For thou in tenderness
Beyond all human care
Stooping to save the least, hast said
That such thy Kingdom share.
And we have known thy grace,
Creator, Healer, Friend;
Thy constant love enriches ours;
We on thy might depend.
So now in joyful trust
Facing the years to be,
Our child, our daily life, ourselves
We dedicate to thee.
O may the wisdom lead;
Our strength be thine alone,
Until the faith we now confess
Thy child shall make [his] own.
Here in this sacrament,
Joined with our friends above,
In Christ’s one church we yield [him] now
